He holds two engineering degrees from Manchester University in the United Kingdom.
Jianbing “Jimmy” Jiang, UC
Dr. Jiang obtained his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University (advisor: Jonathan Lindsey) working on tetrapyrrole compounds for energy applications. In 2015, he joined Yale University as a Postdoctoral Associate and then an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Chemistry and Yale Energy Sciences Institute, working with Professors Gary Brudvig and Robert Crabtree on organometallic materials for small molecule activation and energy storage. He earned his B.S. from Jiangnan University in 2007 and M.S. from East China University of Science and Technology in 2010 (advisor: He Tian). Jimmy started his independent career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati in 2018. He received the NSF CAREER award in 2021.
Rakesh Govind, UC
Dr. Rakesh Govind obtained his MS snd PhD in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and is currently Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Govind has published over 100 papers in peer reviewed journals and awarded 12 patents.
Dr. Govind has also founded two companies- PRD Tech, Inc., which designs, builds and supplies decentralized wastewater and water treatment systems for Businesses and Utilities and NextGen Septic, LLC, which supplies advanced septic tanks for single family homes and sub-divisions.
Soryong Ryan Chae, UC
Dr. Soryong Chae is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He received Ph.D. from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2004. Over the last ten years, he has authored four book chapters and over 70 journal articles in the fields of water and wastewater treatment using membranes and environmental nanotechnology. His research team is focusing on the “Smart Water System”, which is a multi-disciplinary and integrated system pursuing advanced treatment of water and wastewater with resource recovery.
Daniel Ma, Dr. Natalie Hull, Dr. Clarissa Belloni, OSU
Daniel Ma is a PhD Student at the Ohio State University studying Civil Engineering. He is part of Dr. Natalie Hull's research group investigating water microbiomes and UV disinfection processes. He earned his BS in Engineering at Messiah College and MS in Civil Engineering at Ohio State. HIs current research includes work in applying UV LEDs for water disinfection, preventing microbial regrowth and DNA repair, and hydropowered UV LED disinfection. Daniel also conducts research in quantitative microbial risk assessment, systematic impacts on water quality in rural water systems, and wastewater surveillance for SARS-CoV-2.
